Demanding implementation of 6th Pay Commission for the aided school teachers and filling-up of vacant posts by holding DPC at the earliest, the All Manipur Government Aided School Employees Coordinating Committee staged a sit-in-protest at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai Community Hall here today.
Speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of the protest, Md Din Mohammed, publicity secretary of the coordinating committee pointed out that Education Minister M Okendra had dispatched a letter enclosing recommendations from 25 MLAs, six Ministers, three Parliamentary Secretaries and Deputy Speaker to the Directorate of Education (S) asking to initiate fund process for implementation of 6th Pay Commission for teachers of aided schools, but no substantial step has been taken up till date.

He lamented that Principal Secretary of Education (S) had recommended Directorate of School to hold DPC for filling up of vacant posts in aided schools as per Rule 8 (4) (vii) of Manipur Grant-in-Aid to School Rules 1977 on June 20 last, but the same has not been done so far.
Saying that aided school teachers are reeling under intense difficulties due to the lackadaisical attitude of the government towards them, he announced that the sit-in-protest would continue for five days to be followed by hunger strike.
He also warned that the committee with support from civil society organizations will resort to launch economic blockade along National Highways, if the government fails to meet the demands at the earliest.
