Imphal, March 06 2019:
Reiterating its demand for absorption of 222 Assistant Linemen of All Manipur Quess Staff Union as regular employees of the Manipur State power Distribution Company Limited, a sit in protest was staged by the linemen at Keishampat today.
Speaking to media persons at the sideline of the protest, president of All Manipur Quess Staff Union (affiliated to Manipur Electric Employees' Union), M Ranjito denounced the attempt to appoint new 346 JTAs/Linemen by ignoring the demand and grievances of the linemen who have been engaged with MSPDCL since 2014-15 .
He maintained that the union would not have opposed in MSPDCL appointing new JTAs, if the authorities concerned had provided a room for considering the grievances and demand of the linemen.
Claiming that the linemen are eligible, holds certificate for suitable training and have been working under the department for a long time through DPC, Ranjito added that the union had submitted memoranda to the Chief Minister and the Power Minister repeatedly, apart from taking up many protest demonstrations.
Lamenting that the State Government has turned a deaf ear to the demand of the union, he urged the State Government to regularise the linemen before appointing new JTAs and further demanded the authorities concerned to hold back the issuance of admit cards for recruitment/appointment of fresh JTAs.
