Lamka, July 04 2015 :
Financial Assistance and Support Service to Victims of Rapes provided under a scheme for restorative justice by District Social Welfare Office, Churachandpur have been denied to eight victims although the office approved their bank accounts on March 28, 2015 .
It was hard to understand why it was late, lamented Grace Zamnu, Secretary, Action for Women and Child Advancement (AWCA) during a press meet on Saturday at the organisation's office.
She further stated that every section of the society and people from all walks of life should respect women and stand against violence against them.
"Also we all have a pivotal role to stop such wantonness in the society.
We should not claim a society is stable if rights and dignity of women are negated," she added.
She urged the Government to disburse their entitled financial assistance at the earliest so that they could invest in a business to earn their living.
Meanwhile, she also condemned Timothy L Changsan, Director, North East Children Home for his alleged ravishment of few inmates at the home which led to his arrest under POCSO Act.
But now he is released on bail after staying behind bar for few days, Grace said and urged the responsible authority to re-arrest him as many lives may be in stake because of him.
