'Students of Art College are not wasted'

Even though the educated youths of the state are facing the problems of unemployment, students who have passed out Imphal Art College are all self- employed and are able to lead a life of contentment, exclaimed Y Nabakumar, Principal of the College.
In a tete-a-tete with Hueiyen Lanpao, Principal Y Nabakumar observed that in this age of cut throat competition, almost all the parents are sending their children to good schools and colleges to gain knowledge and ultimately get a lucrative job.
Still then the number of educated youths in the state facing employment problems in Manipur is on the rise and this has led to increase in the rate of crimes committed in the society.
He further informed that Imphal Art College was established in 1949 and was later affiliated to the Manipur University in 1980.The institute has so far produced a number of worthy students.
Since the institute imparts knowledge to the students in the form of vocational training, the students passing out from the institute can easily engaged themselves in various sorts of works which suits them best and thus they are able to live life with satisfaction and also occupy a respectable position in the society.
Many of the past students of this institute have been engaged in the Planning Department, Statistics Department, DDK and other departments of the state government and none of them faced the problems of unemployment in the state, Nabakumar added.
There are four faculty departments in the institute.
However, there ishortage of staffs currently, he added.
