State reports two fatalities, 136 new cases

Though the positivity rate has come down significantly in the past few weeks, the state on Saturday reported two new death cases and 136 new positive, cases of Covid-19 out of 2524 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 5.39 per cent against 5.64 per cent recorded on Friday.
Though the positivity rate is now under 6 per cent, Ukhrul district recorded 14.9 per cent on Saturday.
The active caseload came down to 2216 out of which 407 (18.37 per cent) are in home isolation, 794 (35.83 per cent) in CHICs, 642 (28.97 per cent) in CCCs and 373 (16.83 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 70 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 94'are on oxygen support and 29 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 169 patients.
On the other hand, there are six patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Saturday evening, 564 beds including 113 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.
There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Friday evening.
2830 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 385 beds (29 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 91,479 positive cases and 1486 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic, out of which 1205 new cases and 17 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 136 new positive cases included 132 people (65 male & 67 female) from among the general population and four personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose sample were tested at RIMS (13), JNIMS (11) and other testing centres (112) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (29), Imphal West (72), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (5), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (13), Churachandpur (3), Tamenglong (5) and Jiribam (2) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The two fatalities reported in the last 24 hours were from Imphal West and Churachandpur districts, and both of them were unvaccinated.
With this, the cumulative number of deaths due to Covid-19 in the state has reached 1860 so far.
In the last 24 hours, 150 patients were discharged from home isolation (49), RIMS (3), JNIMS (11),CCCs(80)and CHICs (7) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,20,879 (general population - 1,16,589 and CAPF personnel - 4,290) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,16,803 (general population - 1,12,548 and CAPF personnel - 4,255) and number of active cases is 2,216 (general population - 2,186 and CAPF personnel - 30) .
The recovery rate is 96.63 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 928 D-type and .260 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
On Friday, 10,958 vaccine doses were administered and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 12,24,668 which include 4,89,227 fully vaccinated people.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (41,695), Imphal East (26,735), Thoubal (9332), Churachandpur (10,052), Kangpokpi (2756), Tamenglong (3267), Bishnupur (9016), Senapati (2203), Ukhrul (2759), Kakching (6350), Chandel (2286), Noney (1060), Teng-noupal (1044), Jiribam (1017), Kamjong (865) and Pherzawl (442) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (618), Imphal East (439), Thoubal (169), Churachandpur (159), Kangpokpi (59), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (187), Senapati (9), Ukhrul (33), Kakching (110), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5), and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 38,956 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,195 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,20,969 tests per million population against the national average of 4,09,463 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2524 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 5.39 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.25 per cent.
