Kuki Chiefs seek donations for flood victims in Chandel Dist

The tragic event that has befallen Joumoul Village in Khengjoy Sub-division came as a shocker to the people.
The whole village which was completely wiped out by a massive landslide with 21 villagers reportedly missing is a catastrophic event for the district in recent times.
Because of incessant rain and the resultant landslides the Tengnoupal -New Samtal Road and other routes have been rendered unusable.
The villages in Khengjoy Sub-division are now cut off and the villagers have become stranded.
Since all the lifelines and communications have been severed relief efforts have become difficult to reach the villagers.
In connection with this natural disaster, the Kuki Chiefs Association Chandel District convened an emergency meeting with Kuki Inpi and KSO and dispatched 3 teams to reach the site from three different routes.
And to help allay the sufferings of the victims, the chiefs association has formed a relief committee to oversee relief operations.
The committee will open donation centres in Imphal, Sugnu, Pallel and Moreh where donation in cash and kind will be received for the victims.
The Kuki Chiefs Association Chandel District lauded the efforts of the Deputy Commissioner of Chandel District who has done a commendable job by taking a disaster response team in a helicopter to reach the site.
It also appeals to the Commandant of the BRTF to clear the landslide blocking roads at the earliest so that relief activity can be taken up earnestly.
The KCA Chandel also appreciates the BJP relief team led by SS Olis who had distributed 100 bags of rice to flood affected victims of Sugnu area.
Relief donation centre in Imphal is being opened at KSO Imphal office at Tribal Market New Lambulane.
