Imphal, May 30 2023:
Ranjita Golmei, general secretary of the Kabui Mothers' Association (KAMA), Manipur said that the violent conflict that started on May 3 is very unfortunate and it shouldn't have happened.
She said the situation has intensified in the past few days.
"All the communities, Naga, Meitei, Pangal, Kabui, Kuki and others have been living together peacefully in Manipur since time immemorial irrespective of who we are.
As the general secretary of KAMA, I would like to appeal to the Prime Minister and Home Minister at the Centre to bring back normalcy in the State as soon as possible," she said.
Both the Central Government and the State Government should look into the present condition of the displaced people.
They cannot stay at relief camps for long.
Testing the patience of the affected people is not a good thing, Ranjita Golmei said.
Moreover, blockade on the National Highways has also created a problem for all.
Prices of all essential items have been hiked and people are facing hardship, she said appealing to the Government and all concerned to lift the blockade.
She then appealed to the National media to not paint the conflict in the wrong light.
The conflict is not between the Christians and non-Christians, Ranjita said, asserting "there are some misunderstandings between the two communities and this happens sometimes in every part of the world" .
She appealed to the Centre and all citizens for their intervention to bring an amicable solution for lasting peace in the state.
