Imphal, December 29 2018:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has observed the 162nd birth anniversary of Bir Tikendrajit at Congress Bhavan today.
Congress leaders and legislatures led by former Chief Minister O Ibobi paid floral tributes to the photo of the patriot.
Speaking as the chief guest of the event, O Ibobi said that the event was organised to pay respect to the patriot - Bir Tikendrajit who sacrificed his life for the State's freedom against the Britishers.
Bir Tikendrajit died for the State, his story and bravery still continues to motivate us, Ibobi said and added that all the people in the State are proud of his stance to die fighting for the State than to live under British rule.
Maintaining that the Congress party is working tirelessly since India got its independence from British Raj to catapult the Nation to the level of super power, Ibobi said that India's emergence as one of the top countries in science and technology, economy and various other fields, is a gift of Congress party to the Nation.
O Ibobi also assured that Congress will initiate many more developmental works in the coming years.
The BJP led Government in the State and Centre are taking credit of many works initiated by Congress.
"What BJP is mostly doing is nothing but inaugurating the works/projects of the Congress.
This is quite embarrassing," said the former Chief Minister.
The birth anniversary was also attended by MPCC president TN Haokip, MLAs of Congress, office bearers of MPCC, leaders of Frontal Cells, Congress Corporators of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) and Congress's workers.
