The drive of the state electricity department is to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the people of the state, said N Sarat, Chief Engineer, Power today in the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Manipur Electricity Employees Union (MEEU) held at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound.
Sarat said it is the responsibility of the employees of the department to ensure a smooth functioning of the department.

Around 75 percent of the total power received by the state is lost either in transmission or through illegal connections.
The drive of the department against bill defaulters and illegal connections is a step to minimize the loss of power.

Since the power being used by the state is bought by the state, proper payment of bills is important to keep the department alive.
The department is taking up initiatives to introduce a prepaid system in the state.
He appealed to the people to cooperate with the department in its drive.
