BJP chief calls Biren states best chief minister
Once blood soaked road of Manipur being double laned now: Nadda

Bpr/Imphal, November 26 2021: BJP national president JP Nadda and chief minister N Biren jointly inaugurated the Go to Village 2.0 for Bishnupur district at Ngaikhong Khunou playground under Oinam assembly constituency on Friday.

Around 68 stalls of 33 departments and banks would be providing services to the people of the district for three days.

Speaking at the event, JP Nadda hailed the Go to Village mission and asserted that it is an initiative of Chief Minister N Biren led government to ensure delivery of services and benefits of welfare schemes at the people's doorstep.

It is an innovative programme to connect the public with the government and address their grievances effectively.

He also called N Biren as the best chief minister of the state ever while adding that his government is committed to bringing development, peace and welfare in the society.

He also thanked the district administration of Bishnupur for organising the event.

Nadda said "roads in Manipur there were once soaked with blood" are now witnessing the work following which the lanes would be doubled, adding "frequent blockades" have also ended in the state.

He reminded the gathering that the Central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned 16 National Highways in Manipur, while over 300 projects are being implemented for the multi-faceted development of the north-eastern state.

Terming Manipur as the "national jewel", Nadda said the state is the best emerging one in India.

The National Sports University is being set up in Manipur as the state has a huge number of sporting talent, he said.

To intensify his campaign in the poll-bound Manipur, the BJP chief reached the state on Thursday - his second trip within two-and-a-half months.

Nadda said that Manipur was the gateway of India's freedom struggle and during the freedom movement, the state gave a fitting blow to the British rulers.

Saying the previous government (led by Congress) was known for delivery of blockades, Nadda underlined that through the newly launched Go to Village' scheme, commenced by CM Biren, the state government has initiated the last mile delivery and door step delivery of the government services.

"Instability was a part of Manipur's life.

Insurgency was at its peak while disputes between hills and plains were regular during the previous regime.

In the last five years, the criminalisation of politics has been stopped by our government.

We started working in Manipur in 1980, and today we have our first Chief Minister from the BJP," Nadda said.

He also said that with the introduction (in 2019) of the Inner-line Permit by the Modi government, outsiders now cannot purchase lands in Manipur leading to the protection of the traditional culture of the state.

Referring to the November 13 ambush carried out by the militants, Nadda said the sacrifice of Assam Rifles jawans in Manipur "won't go in vain".

On November 13, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) militants attacked an Assam Rifles convoy killing an Assam Rifles Colonel, his wife and son, and four jawans in the bordering Churachandpur district along Myanmar.

In his address, CM Biren said that the Go to Village mission was introduced to ensure the benefit of different schemes, taken up under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reach their targeted beneficiaries.

The Central government, taking note of the hardship faced by many citizens of the country during the COVID-19 pandemic, has decided to extend distribution of free ration under the Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMKGAY) till March, 2022, he said.

The CM also dwelled about different schemes his government had launched and their benefits and added that the public will get access to these welfare schemes and their benefits easily with the Go to Village Mission as they no longer need to visit offices for various services.

Biren maintained that the state has been witnessing development in different sectors including roads, water supply, health and education among others in the last four and half years.

The age-old bonding between hill and valley people has revived, maintaining good relations and mutual respect.

The help extended by people in the hills and in far flung valley villages and vice versa during the Covid-19 pandemic was the testimony of improving relationship, he maintained.

Biren then appealed to the people of the district to avail maximum benefit from the programme by visiting each stall and gathering information of different schemes.

He also announced that the youth affairs and sports department is in the process of improving infrastructure of Ngaikhong Khunou playground.

During the programme, benefits under different welfare schemes including CMHT cards, hearing aids, free ration under PMGKAY, Smartphones under Chief Minister's College Maheiroi e-Support Scheme, LPG connections under Ujjwala scheme, Old Age Pension and Widow Pension scheme among others were provided to the beneficiaries.

Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Pratima Bhoumik, works minister Th Biswajit, education minister Sorokhaibam Rajen, agriculture minister Oinam Lukhoi, CAF&PD minister Thokchom Satyabrata, Assam's housing and urban affairs minister Ashok Singhal, Rajya Sabha MP titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba, MPCB & KVIB chairman Oinam MLA Radhakishore, deputy speaker K Robindro, Sekmai MLA H Dingo, ex-MLA of Bishnupur AC Govindas Konthoujam, Moirang MLA P Sharatchandra, Konthoujam MLA Dr S Ranjan, ex-MLA of Moirang AC M Prithviraj, former minister N Mangi, former minister Th Jibon, BJP Bishnupur district committee president RK Bimola, DC Bishnupur Ranjan Yumnam, YAS commissioner Bobby Waikhom, Bishnupur ZP adhakshya Dr Romabai Lairenjam, BJP intending candidate Bishnupur AC O Nabakishore, Yaiskul MLA Th Satyabrata, BJP intending candidate for Nambol ACTh Bashanta, pradhans, Zila Parishad members, administrative secretaries and officials of different departments attended the programme.
