Asia's top climbers in Imphal

Asia's top five speed climbers will be arriving here to attend the 4 day X game International men and women open speed climbing competition be held as part of the ongoing Manipur Sangai festival 2011 .
"The top seed climbers including China's Zhang Ning and Kazakhstan's Devyatrikov along with other prominent climbers from Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, Kirgiz Republic and host India are also competing in the competition", said Keerthi Pais, Chairman of National sports climbing committee of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation(IMF),New Delhi.
"The competition will be organized in the classical format of the game.
India is hosting such a competition for the second time in the country." Among the participating teams-China and Kazakhstan teams are strong ones.
The competition which is scheduled to conclude at the 15 metres speed wall classical holds equipped mini adventure tourism complex at the Hafta Kangjeibung festival site in Imphal on November 28 is being organized by IMF and Manipur tourism department in association with Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association(MMTA) .
Two Manipuri climbers K Surjit of Khongman and L Muhindro of Bishnupur along with two climbers each from Bangalore and Pune besides three Indian army climbers will also join the competition, according to Dr L Surjit, President of MMTA.
The top Chinese and Kazakhstan climbers will be arriving from Friday onwards, he added.
Though India's top seed climber Praveen CM would not be able to participate in the competition due to injury in the fingers, people are expecting good remark from climbers such as medallist Shivalinga and others.
The first position holder of the X game speed climbing competition will be awarded a cash prize worth 1500 US dollars followed by 1000 and 800 US dollars respectively.
Thus the fourth, fifth and sixth position holders will also be given cash prizes of US 500,300 and 200 etc.
