Distinguished Gentleman's Ride (DGR), a global motorcycle fund-raising event for prostrate cancer research and men's mental health, will be held on September 29 in Imphal.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Motor Corps Manipur president Hevan Singh Maibam said that this is the fourth time the association will be organising the event in the State.
Speaking about DGR, he explained that DGR was started by one Mark Hawwa in Sydney, Australia in 2012 and till date, DGR has managed to raise around 18.50 million USD.
This year's event aims to raise 7 million USD, he said, and informed that it is being calculated that around 1,25,000 classic and vintage styled motorcyclists from 700 cities across 110 countries will participate in the global event.
The event is open to all genders, Hevan said.
Replying to a query, Hevan said that the funds raised from the DGR will be deposited to the account of the event's officials charity partner, Movember Foundation.
Every year, more than a million men die from prostate cancer all over the world.
Movember Foundation and DGR are two NGOs which are dedicated to this issue, he informed.
Hevan then explained that on September 29, DGR will be flagged off from Hotel Classic Grande by JNIMS Director Prof Th Bhimo and the main event will be held at Sangaithel Park and Resort with various entertainment programmes.
