The Aimol Tribe Union, Manipur (ATUM) has clarified that Manglun alias Walunglua Aimol of Ngairong village, killed yesterday by gunmen was a PRO ofUKLF and all the injured victims were UKLF cadres.
A statement issued by ATUM president S Munthui-reng clarified that Aimol people on their volition choose to embrace the Naga and there was no forced merger of Aimol tribe with the Naga community.
ATUM said that the UKLF cadres led by Manglun alias Walunglua opened fire at the resident of ATUM president on July 2.In the night of May 31 this year, a Major of AR, with Jacob alias Thangboi, UKLF's Ceasefire Monitoring Cell incharge fired upon village women who were on night duty resulting'in the death of M Ruisoting Aimol and injuries to three others.
Two UKLF cadres namely Letkhothang Aimol and Lamkhothang Baite hit two Aimol women leaders at Pallel Bazar with an Activa scooter on Aug 6 .
The two UKLF cadres were picked by the NSCN-IM after they were held by the public.
Interrogation revealed that the UKLF's higher ups have authorised the cadres to torture people of Aimol any place and any time, ATUM said.
The Aimol people have endured suffering in the hands of the UKLF since 2014, it added.
ATUM further urged media houses not to believe propaganda and to investigate the matter before publishing the reports.
