Active cases dip under 1000, two more die

Active cases of Covid-19 in the state fell below 1000 for the first time in six months as the active caseload came down to 906 on Friday.
Meanwhile, Friday reported two new death cases and 56 new positive cases of Covid-19 from 1664 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 3.37 per cent against Thursday's 4.60 per eent.
The two victims belonged to Imphal West and Chandel districts and one of them had received first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
The two fatalities took the cumulative tally of death cases to 1907 .
Out of the 16 districts, seven reported Covid cases on Friday with Imphal West reporting highest count at 25.In terms of positivity rate, Imphal East recorded highest single day positivity rate at 6.6 per cent while Senapati district recorded lowest positivity rate at 0.6 per cent.
Chandel, Jiribam, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, Noney, Pherzawl, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal and Thoubal districts did not report any new positive cases on Friday.
Out of the active cases as on Friday, 120 (13.25 per cent) are in home isolation, 176 (19.43 per cent) in CHICs, 334 (36.87 per cent) in CCCs and 276 (30.46 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 69 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 52 are on oxygen support and 20 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 132 patients.
On the other hand, there are five patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.
There is no updated information regarding bed availability but as of Thursday evening, 635 beds including 110 ICU/HDU beds were available in different hospitals, 2856 beds in different Covid Care Centres and 417 beds (30 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 93,707 positive cases arid 1533 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has recorded 2523 new cases and 52 fatalities out of which 562 new cases and 14 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 56 new positive cases (SI male & 25 female) are from among the general population and their samples were detected at RIMS (9), JNIMS (8) and other testing centres (39) .
The positive cases are from Imphal East (17), Imphal West (25), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (3), Churachandpur (5) and Senapati (1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 91 patients were discharged from home isolation (33), RIMS (8), JNIMS (7) and CCCs (43) .
However, 403 already discharged patients were reported only on Friday and the number of discharged cases in the last 24 hours has been calculated as 494 .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,23,107 (general population - 1,18,784 and CAPF personnel - 4,323) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,20,294 (general population - 1,15,998 and CAPF personnel - 4,296) and number of active cases is 906 (general population - 884 and CAPF personnel - 22) .
The recovery rate is 97.71 per cent.
A total of 605 D-type and 91 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
On Thursday, 9245 vaccine doses were administered and took the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 12,39,478 which included 6,24,645 fully vaccinated people.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (42807), Imphal East (27219), Thoubal (9426), Churachandpur (10118), Kangpokpi (2774), Tamenglong (3272), Bishnupur (9136), Senapati (2223), Ukhrul (2913), "Kakching (6384), Chandel (2315), Noney (1067), Tengnoupal (1054), Jiribam (1021), Kamjong (914) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (634), Imphal East (453), Thoubal (173), Churachandpur (160), Kangpokpi (60), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (189), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (39), Kakching (111), Chandel (36), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,674 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,439 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,35,400 tests per million population against the national average of 4,27,184 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1664 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 3.37 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.11 per cent.
