CAF & PD Minister announces Rs 1 lakh reward

Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF&PD) Minister Karam Shyam has announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for the LPG distributor which can provide the most number of LPG connections to the people under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna (PMUY) .
Speaking to media persons during an LPG cylinders and Kit distribution ceremony held at Lilong Chajing today, the Minister said that the people would not have been able to get any benefits of the scheme if it were not for the initiative and responsibility of the 83 LPG distributors present in Manipur and announced a prize of Rs 1 lakh for the distributors who can provide the maximum number of LPG connections in the State.
On the other hand, the Minister informed that he has heard reports of money being taken from the beneficiaries of Langthabal A/C and other areas for getting the benefits under the scheme and expressed disappointment adding that the beneficiaries need not pay any money for getting the scheme.
He also urged all those involved in the works concerning to be carry out their duties honestly and added that out off the 2.44 lakh potential beneficiaries of the State, the number of beneficiaries who have experienced the scheme is not even 1 lakh.
With the 133 LPG connections provided today, the number has reached 442 for Langthabal A/C.Tireless effort is underway to increase the number to 6000, the Minister added.
LJP Langthabal president B Brajamohon and Phoubakchao Indane Gramin Vitrak proprietor Th Jiten were also present at the event.
