Imphal, August 21 2015 :
The Govt of India should recognise that the unrest that prevails in the State down the years is a part of political conflict situation between two entities- Manipur and India.
This was the first recommendation adopted during a people's convention on 'Question on the future of Manipur' organised by Committee for Re-consolidation Campaign today at GM Hall.
The only solution to the myriad problems faced by the people of Manipur is the restoration of the pre-merger status.
The convention resolved to convey the same recommendation and mount pressure on the Govt of India.

The convention also resolved to constitute an Upper House of the State Assembly composed of representatives of recognised ethnic and tribe councils so that the native indigenes and tribes get their rights to protect their identity, culture and tradition and to ensure their democratic political participation.
If the Upper House is not constituted, the State and the Central Governments should constitute an ethnic council under any Ministry.
The convention further resolved to constitute a prepa- ratory committee named, 'Coalition for Indigenes' Rights Campaign, Manipur' or CIRCA, Manipur, to pursue the recommendations.
Accordingly, Somorendro Thokchom, Paosing Golmei and Waikhom Ananda Meetei have been elected as the convener and co-conveners respectively of the committee.
The people's convention resolved to convene another public convention of indigenes and tribes of the State to deliberate wide ranging issues and prepare a charter of demands.
The convention today further resolved to join the ongoing movement for the protection of indigenous people.
The convention was moderated by Ningthouja Lancha.
Titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba was also seated on the dais.
Prof W Nabakumar, Advocate Paosing Golmei, Ad- vocate Puyam Tomcha, social activist Moirangthem Mani-mohon, HoD of Modern College Political Science Dept Haobam Indrakumar also spoke at the convention.
