Rivers flow above danger level

Imphal, July 21 2015 :
Following incessant rains in the hill areas since Monday night, the water levels of the Imphal and the Nambul rivers are above the danger mark, officials said.
According to these officials the water level of the Imphal river at Lilong recorded at 9 pm on Tuesday was 780.450 metres.
The water level of the Nambul river, according to a report recorded at 8 PM on Tuesday was 782.375 metres.

However there is no cause for panic for the Iril river.
There are springs at the Imphal river at Golabati and Kairang and people are frantically trying to plug them.
The villagers said that no official was present and when the villagers sought flood control materials they declined citing present law and order problems.
There is no arrangement to cope with the emergency situation and the officials are not given vehicles.
There are incessant rains in the hills causing concern among the officials, said a source.
