Imphal, September 20 2011:
In what could be termed as a clear case of deceit and negligence on the part of the concern authority, candidates who were given disable certificates by the Social Welfare department in 2011 have been reportedly selected by the DPC for the recruitment of Primary teachers conducted by the Education department in 2006 .
Speaking to reporters at a press conference held here in Imphal today, Romio, President of the All Manipur Handicapped Persons Welfare Association said that the DPC which was conducted in 2006 were to select 42 candidates under the Disable category, but had selected only 29.The most embarrassing part is that the 2006 DPC have selected candidates who were given disable certificates by the Social Welfare department in 2011.The government should clarify on this issue.
He further went on to say that inspite of the standing order that no blind candidates could be selected as Primary teachers under the General category, four blind persons have been selected.
Apart from this, candidates scoring above 80 marks have been placed in the waiting list and those scoring below 70 have been selected.
There is no general, SC, ST or OBC as such for the physically disable.
The physically disabled should come under the disabled category.
The government should clarify as to why it had not absorbed all the illegible candidates as per the given reserved seats for the disable.
