Jiribam (Imphal East), December 17 2015:
The Barak Brothers' Union (BBU) is organising a social work along Jiri-Tipaimukh road tomorrow, reports our correspondent.
The union had collected donation from Government employees, taxi drivers, auto drivers and well-wishers of Barak Circle in order to organise the social work.
On July 16, 2014, the union had submitted a memorandum to the PWD Minister, local MLA Th Debendra Singh and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh demanding to repair the road.
However, it failed to yield positive result, said BBU general secretary D Lomsang in a statement.
The people of Barak Circle improvised and repaired the bridges which were left unattended by the PWD in limited ways but it turned out unusable, D Lomsang added.
Urging the people to extend assistance in repairing Jiri-Tipaimukh road, he said that BBU along with the people of Barak Circle will launch an agitation in case the State Government fails to repair the road at the earliest.
