Seized cigarettes, liquor disposed

Imphal, April 17 2018:
Cigarettes, Indian Made Foreign Liquorss and mosquito repellent coils worth around Rs 3.54 crore were disposed today by setting them ablaze at Keirao Angourok.
The disposed items were seized by Customs.
They were disposed by a destruction committee headed by Customs Division, Imphal Assistant Commissioner RK Darendrajit after obtaining due permission from the Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), North Eastern Region Shillong.
Darendrajit said that the disposed items were seized from different places of Imphai, Moreh and Pallel.
The disposed items included cigarettes worth around Rs 3.35 crore, whisky and beer worth Rs 12 lakh and mosquito repellent coils worth around Rs 6.90 lakh which were imported through Moreh, he said.
Most of these items did not have proper specifications like place of manufacture, expiry dates etc.
Even if some of these items had such specifications, they were written in foreign languages other than English, Darendrajit added.
