SBI intends to open mini ATMs at oil pumps

Chief General Manager, State Bank of India RK Garg informed his bank is planning to open mini ATMs at some of the oil pumps in Imphal in order to ease the burden of the existing ATMs.
He also assured SBI banking services will improve within 3 to 6 months.
"We're planning to open some mini ATMs at petrol pumps in Imphal", Chief General Manager Garg said responding to a question over the day to day hardship of the common man in withdrawing cash from an ATM counter.
He said, theSBI authority is responding to the people's demand.
Almost all the ATMs including SBI's in Imphal are overcrowded day and night.One reason may be because of excessive number of customers.
State government employees numbering more than 70,000, not to speak of other central officials and other private individuals, draw their salaries or other encashments through SBI branches.
"Moreover 40 per cent of customers came to ATMs to withdraw just ' 1000", the visiting Chief General Manager said in the inaugural function of the first ever SBI branch with ATM facility at Somsai in Ukhrul district headquarter, 88 km north of Imphal.
The SBI head official of the North East states also informed the media that two more SBI branches will be opened at Tadubi and Tuibong in Senapati and Churachandpur districts.
Earlier Maj Gen CA Krishnan, IG AR (S) inaugurated the SBI branch in the presence of CGM, RK Garg and RGM, BJ Sarma and DC Ukhrul, Ashok Kumar.
The opening of the branch of SBI will be a dream come true for people of Ukhrul realised through the persistent efforts of the state government, the Assam Rifles, SBI authorities, the civil administration and the locals.
Most speakers in the gathering expressed that the SBI branch at Ukhrul is a symbol of a growing economy and the increasing empowerment of the people of the area.
They also emphasized that opening of the SBI branch with ATM and core banking facility will not only promote business but will also act as a springboard for the overall development of the people.
