Bandh affects normal life in Chandel
Bandh to be continued for another 24 hrs along pallel-moreh highway

Chandel, September 13 2015:
Protesting against the State Government's notification for re-election of Chandel ADC Chairman, Committee on Protection of Tribals Rights (CoPoTR), Chandel District enforced a 12-hour bandh in Chandel District on Sunday.
Vehicular movements along the Imphal-Moreh Section of National Highway 102 from Pallel and Chandel District Headquarters came to a grinding halt since 6 am due to the bandh.
Several bandh supporters blocked the Imphal-Moreh highway at Lamkang Khunou, Pallel-Chandel District Headquarters road at Liwachangning and prohibited any movement of vehicles.

Chandel's Japhou Bazaar looked totally deserted.
However, there was no report of any untoward incidents till the time of filing this report.
Speaking to media persons, Chairman CoPoTR Chandel District Wng Kohring Victor said that the bandh was imposed in protest against the State Government for issuing notification for re-electing the ADC Chairman.
In compliance with the Government's Order, the election of the Chairman of Chandel ADC was held on September 9 in the presence of CEO ADC Chandel, he said.
Kohring reminded that a sit-in protest was also held on Saturday at the District Headquarters against the State Government's notification.
The bandh will now be continued and enforced along the Imphal-Moreh highway till Monday even after the first 12-hour bandh ended at 6 pm on Sunday, asserted Victor.
