'Sanjenthong to be completed before this year's Sangai Fest'

Appealing to the public to bear the traffic inconvenience caused by the closure of Sanjenthong Bridge for some time, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has said the State Government is targeting to complete the construction of new Sanjenthong Bridge before this year's Sangai Festival.
He was talking to media persons on the sidelines of an inspection programme of some major development projects here today.
Ibobi further said that the construction of new Sanjenthong Bridge would not take much time as the support pillars and other components of the bridge would be cast together and brought to the worksite when ready.
The estimated cost of the bridge would be around Rs.32 crore and it would measure 55.8 metres in length and 22.7 metres in width.

Chief Minister appealed to the public to bear the inconvenience for some time, adding that the closure of Sanjenthong Bridge is not creating much traffic problem in Imphal area.
The public can easily opt for other alternative routes through Minuthong, Singjamei Bridge,Thumbuthong and Loklaobung Bridge.
Ibobi also inspected the ongoing construction works of Administrative Block and Boys' Hostel of JNIMS, Porompat and the Civil Secretariat at Chingmeirong Capitol Complex.
CM instructed the officials concerned to expedite the ongoing works and complete all projects within the stipulated time.
A team of Medical Council of India (MCI) will visit in January next year and the Administrative Block, Auditorium and the Boys Hostel of the hospital should be ready by that time, he made it clear to the officials concerned.
Regarding the new Secretariat at Mantripukhri, Ibobi said it will take sometime to complete it but the main structure of the building would be completed before the next financial year.
