Imphal, November 09 2008:
THE WHEREABOUTS of a UNLF cadre named Chingtham Pangamba @ Kendra, son of Boshan of Paomai Colony, Sangakpham who was arrested on November 7 by the Assam Rifles of IOF are still unknown, the AR have not disclosed anything about him, a press release issued by Ksh Yoiheiba, Senior Publicity Officer of the UNLF informed.
The press release further revealed that Pangamba @ Kendra was arrested by the AR from Tengnoupal while he was returning from a mission of the party.
The AR of IOF must make it known to the public whether Pangamba @ Kendra has been killed or still alive, the press release demanded.
He further stated that two persons identified as Md Ayub Khan and Md Riyaz Uddin who allegedly have been arrested by troops of 29 AR from a place between Sita and Tengnoupal on Imphal-Moreh road have nothing to do with the UNLF.
The news item published in today's newspapers based in Imphal in which a press release issued by the PRO (IGAR-South) had stated that two motor-cycle-borne UNLF cadres namely Md Ayub Khan and Md Riyajuddin were arrested by 29 AR on the Imphal-Moreh road between Sita and Tengnoupal was a blatant lie, Yoiheiba stated in his press release.
It was a concocted lie as the AR are wont to do usually.
The two persons have no relationship whatsoever with the UNLF/MPA.
The statement that the motorcyle the two persons were riding was being taken to the MPA 292 Bn was itself a strange idea.
Because everyone knows that the 292 Bn of MPA do not operate in this region, the press release pointed out.
Then again, on November 2 also, the 31 AR, during a search operation at Moreh Ward No.VII, arrested a differently able man called Mithun, son of one Soibam Sambhu and alleged that they had arrested one UNLF/MPA cadre.
It was published in the newspapers.
Such nonsensical activities in which, after arresting an innocent civilian and claiming him to be a member of UNLF or any other insurgent outfit, have become the usual style of the AR to play brave and capable in order to claim awards.
Among all the forces of the IOF, the AR indulged in such lies the most, the press release stated.
The incident of Sanggai Yumpham in which the residents of the area rose up in arms holding sticks and staffs against a group of AR personnel who came with their faces masked in black clothes to indulge in activities that would bring about disrepute to the insurgent groups was a clear example of the AR's habit of fraud.
The flopped surrender derama of the AR is another example of this, the release further stated.
