Chandel bodies pay homage

Chandel based organisations on Tuesday paid homage and prayed for the departed souls of the nine persons who had "sacrificed their lives" in the recent Churachandpur protests while safeguarding the interest of the tribal people of Manipur.
"We share the pain and grief of the families of these Tribal Martyrs and we also pray for the earliest and complete recovery of those who were injured in the incident," said a joint statement of Kuki Peoples Forum (KPF), Chandel, Kuki Women Human Rights, Chandel, Kuki Chiefs Association , Chandel, Kuki Students Organisation (KSO), Chandel, Zou Saangnaupung Pawlpi (ZSP), Chandel, United Zou Organisation (UZO), Chandel and Thadou Student Association (TSA), Chandel.
The joint statement informed that Kuki bodies consider the three bills passed by the Manipur Assembly as "The Three Black Bills" for the tribals of Manipur.
The statement condemned the bills in the strongest terms and also criticized the alleged short-sightedness of the O Ibobi led Congress Government.
The organizations blamed the Government for the present turmoil and said it must be held responsible for any untoward incident that may happen in future.
Highly appreciating the four NPF MLAs who had tendered their resignation over the tribal issue, the statement said that the Kuki bodies consider them as true guardians, leaders and protectors of the tribal people and their land.
The joint bodies further demanded immediate resignation of all the other remaining tribal MLAs.
It further questioned their silence over the incident that happened after the passing of the bills.
It demanded termination of the State force personnel involved in triggering live bullets against innocent people that had claimed many precious lives.
The joint bodies also urged the tribal leaders to stay strong, well focused, united and to seek the guidance of the Almighty Lord.
