Continuing its philanthropic activities of looking after the welfare of local populace, battalions and formations under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) distributed 282 umbrellas to the needy, fanners and health workers in Moreh, Kakching, Noney and Joupi in various events this month.
The drive was carried out to assist the aged, farmers going to fields, daily wagers and people working to provide essential services, during inclement weather and ensuing monsoon period.
With the rise in COVID-19 positive cases and onset of monsoon, the umbrella drive will serve as twin purpose to effectively combat the pandemic as well as ensure protection from rains.
An open umbrella guarantees a minimum distance of one metre between two people thereby, ensuring automatic adherence to social distancing.
