IMA-MSB to organise medical health camp in relief camps from May 10

Indian Medical Association, Manipur State Branch (IMA-MSB) has announced that medical health camps will be conducted in relief camps opened across the State from May 10 .
Addressing a press conference today at IMA-MSB office in Lamphel, Dr RK Lenin Singh, president IMA-MSB, informed that a large number of people displaced by the recent violence are taking shelter in the relief camps opened at various places.
He continued that to help the people staying at the relief camps, a 10-member team will visit relief camps established in different places and organise medical health camps from May 10 .
Stating that the medical health camp is a joint initiative of IMA-MSB, Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur Druggists & Chemists Association and State Health Department, he appealed to the State Government to exempt the movement of healthcare workers and medical staff from the purview of the public curfew.
He also informed that due to the violence which broke out on May 3, about 6000 persons including health workers, doctors, nurses and medical students are taking refuge at Churachandpur Army Camp while about 2500 persons are taking shelter at Moreh Deputy Commissioner Office.
He also mentioned that the people staying at the relief camps are facing shortages of various essential items including foods, clothes and medicines.
Dr RK Lenin further appealed to the State Government to look into the matter and initiate necessary measures to evacuate them at the earliest.
