Shyamkumar inaugurates resort at Andro, inspects various ongoing projects

Forest and Environment Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar today inaugurated Heikol, a resort cum home-stay at Huikap Awang Leikai, Andro Assembly Constituency, Imphal East.
Speaking to the media persons, the Minister said that the resort cum home-stay will give a feeling of genuine village lifestyle to the tourists, apart from letting them enjoy the natural scenic beauty of Andro.
The beautiful scenery of nature, the fresh air, hospitable people and quiet lifestyle will allow the tourists, especially foreign Nationals, to escape from the everyday stress and city life.
He maintained that fruit bearing trees which were planted 10 years ago are an addition to the beautiful orchard surrounding the resort cum home-stay.
Opining that the place will be able to attract tourists during various festivals of the State, he appealed to the locals to cooperate and show warm hospitality to the tourists.

Shyamkumar went on to inform that the resort cum home-stay will have 24 rooms and that foreign currencies will be accepted from the foreign Nationals.
He said the objective of inaugurating the resort is also to safeguard the environment and promote traditional cultures of the State.
Stating that cable car service will be introduced for Khalong-Wakha to reduce travel time to just 10 minutes, the Minister said that eco-park and other projects are in pipeline as well.
Stating that the project will boost the income of the people, he appealed to the local residents to help in promoting and showcasing the environment and the wildlife.
Minister Shyamkumar also inspected the under-constructed Huikap High School Girls' Hostel, constructed under the Central funding.
He said that the Centre had given the fund for construction of 100-bedded hostel however, with additional fund the capacity has been increased to 500 .
He further inspected the building of the Andro High School near Panam Ningthou Garden and another school and hostel buildings of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (has a total capacity of 3,000 students) which are presently under construction.
Minister Shyamkumar also laid the foundation stone for a resort cum home-stay which will be constructed under the central funding of NEC at Tipui Kharam village near Santhei Natural Park, Andro Assembly Constituency, Imphal East.
Meanwhile in another event, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar released the yearly calendar and diary for 2019 at his New Secretariat office.
Speaking at the release function, Shyamkumar said that the calendar showcases various works which were taken during 2018 by Horticulture Department including those under the Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) and.Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH).
He further said that despite lack of manpower, the Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department is committed and always ready to take up activities for the welfare of the people.
He said that there should be a strong bond between department, public and media for awareness of the various projects.
