Cultural gala marks Day-1 of Anal fest

Along with a cultural extravaganza, Analphung's Teno Alum-2014, a cultural festival of the Anal tribe, which would go on for two days, has begun from today at the ground of Maha Union Higher Secondary School, Japhou here.
The inaugural function of the cultural festival, which is being organised by Analphung, a web based managerial team, was attended by MLA of 41-Chandel AC St Nunghlung Victor Anal as Chief Guest; Principal of United College, Chandel BD Thumdal as Functional President and as host of other dignitaries including SP Chandel E Priyokumar, Singh IPS, SDPO Chandel Lunkhomang Haokip MCS, President of ANTA Wng Victor Kohring, President of Anal Sinnu Ruwl St Ruth and Hl Lovingson Special Contractor as Guests of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Nunghlung Victor observed that the world will come to know of the Anal tribe having rich cultural and traditional values through the documented events of the festival which will be uploaded on the website of Analphung.
He urged the web based managerial team specially those IT professionals in the team, to do more research on the history of the Anal tribe so that those elements are rejuvenated and help the world to understand the identity of the tribe better.
The MLA also released the Anal fonts developed by Analphung.
In his Presidential address, BD Thumdal expressed hope that the festival will help to enrich the identity of the Anal people.
Convenor of the festival Ts Warngam, who also spoke on the occasion, explained that the festival has been organized to rejuvenate, preserve and promote the almost diminishing traditional and cultural values of Anal tribe today.
He said that the festival was organized to capture and document the cultural practices of the Anal tribe for uploading on the website launched by the Analphung.
Editor-in-Chief of Analphung Kl Warson maintained that the greatest achievement of his team developing an Anal font.
The inaugural function was marked by a mass silent salute to the departed souls of Anal Phetha (Anal Heroes), presentation of folk songs by renowned composer and singer Ws Lumdil, Ps Bemung Anal and the artiste of Anallon Art and Cultural Society.
Cultural troupe of Lambung Youth and Cultural Club also presented dances on the occasion.
Sum ideng Piiteh (an indigenous shot-put) and cotton reeling performed by the Anal Sinnu Ruwl entertained the gathering.
A folk play based on the history of Ibudhou Wangparel and Shangnu Shanghra also added a new flavor to the festival.
The play was staged by artistes of Kankhu Theatre and Cultural Development Society.
