Federation of Haomee appeals

In view of the turmoil prevailing in the State aftermath of the Tribal Solidarity March held on May 3 last, Federation of Haomee appealed to the authorities concerned to open helpline numbers designated for all districts 24x7 to provide all possible help to the affected people.
The Federation in a press note strongly denounced 'the unprecedented scale of violence which broke out after the Tribal Solidarity March held on May 3 where armed members of an alleged community set ablaze houses of another community thereby displacing many creating a chaotic state' .
Expressing concern over the grave situation leading to disruption of law and order in the State, the federation appealed to the Government to take up all possible measures to save the lives of the innocent citizens at the earliest.
Further it urged all concerned who are striving earnestly to protect the indigenous Meitei/Meetei community to refrain from any act of violence under the influence of alcohol or drugs so as not to malign the noble cause.
The Purum Riem Council, Manipur too denounced the wide scale violence which erupted in the State in the past few days threatening the peaceful co-existence and integrity of the State.
The Council in a statement asserted that the Purum community despite being a small indigenous community have been striving sincerely for the promotion of peace and harmony among the various communities of the State.
