Reacting to the claim of Assam Police as appeared in the NE Edition of Times of India under the heading 'Manipur militants link up with local criminals', the proscribed UG group PREPAK in a statement has clarified that no revolutionary organisations of Manipur are helping local criminals of Assam to collect money from people.
Refuting the report as baseless, the statement maintained that it was only an attempt to wedge a drive to destroy the peaceful relationships of brotherhood that exists between the Assamese and Manipuris since time immemorial.
Moreover, PREPAK at no point of time has ever established any base camps in Assam, it added.
Since its inception, PREPAK has been trying to win the heart of the public in its freedom movement and has been trying its best to refrain from any anti-people activities.
PREPAK does not engaged mercenaries or extort money from innocent people in the name of free struggle, the outfit asserted. While claiming that the report was a ploy jointly hatched by India government and the Times of India to defame the revolutionary organisations of Manipur, the statement further appealed to the people of the state not to believe such propaganda.
