Imphal, May 05 2017:
Several media persons who went to cover the news of the launching ceremony of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojanaat JNIMS auditorium were compelled to sit on the floor during the news coverage in absence of adequate seats.
As per the programme schedule, journalists from different media houses reached the venue where they found only 10 seats reserved for them.
The remaining seats were occupied by others.
The seat arrangement came as a shocker to them as organisers of the function had sent invitation to all the media houses for the news coverage.
With no options left, the media persons remained standing and waited for arrival of the chief guest of the function.
Not a single official intervened and tried to provide seats to them even after the arrival of the chief guest and other dignitaries leaving the media persons in disgust.
Newly appointed media advisor of State Health Mission, who was present at the occasion did not instruct the staff concerned to arrange seats for the media persons.
Notably, the media advisor is also the editor of a daily newspaper.
Mention may be made that such ill-treatment encountered by media persons is not the first time as on April 2 during the launching ceremony of Digi Dhan Mela at City Convention Centre, many media persons were left standing during the news coverage.
The launching ceremony was organised by Department of Information and Technology.
