Imphal, April 04 2015 :
New Block Institute of Teachers Education (BITE) would be set up in six districts of the State, according to an announcement made by Education Minister M Oken-dro.
Speaking at a felicitation function of the winners of the 20th All India Children's Educational Audio Visual Festival held at CIET, NCERT, New Delhi from March 24 to 26, Okendro stated that DIET office presently located in DM College campus cannot be shifted away immediately as and when one wishes.
He decried that some persons pelted stones when DIET examination was going on recently demanding removal of DIET office from DM College campus.
After the Dhanamanjuri University Bill was passed by the State Assembly, the Governor's approval is being awaited.
One should shed the notion of raising objections as a matter of habit when the Government embarks on any new project.
Creating issues out of nothing is not desirable at all.
Rather, students, teachers and concerned officials should promote smooth coordination.

Okendro stated that special attention would be given to schools affiliated to CBSE so as to avoid further victimization of students by frauds ru- nning some of these schools.
After registration of an FIR, police investigation is in progress regarding victimization of a considerable number of students who were not allowed to appear this year's Class X and Class XII exams conducted by CBSE.
As the investigation process takes time, the Govern- ment was constrained to take additional time of 15 days and it could not fulfil its assurance to produce a white paper on March 28 .
Nonetheless, the State Government has formulated a new policy and the facts can be established very soon.
There is no need to create unrest in the society just because there were some mis- takes or lapses.
Instead, the Government should be given opportunity to rectify the mistakes and plug in the loop- holes in consultation with experts and intellectuals.
Positive changes achieved during the past couple of years in the education sector as a result of the Government's relentless efforts to make Manipur self-reliant in education sector is quite visible now, Okendro claimed.
Teachers should focus on imparting quality education to students rather than grudging and lobbying against Government's transfer orders.
The State Government would pay special attention to restrictions imposed by some sections against Catholic schools, he added.
Apart from Minister M Okendro, University and Higher Education Director C Arthur W and Higher & Technical Education and SCERT Commissioner P Vaiphei were also present at the felicitation function held at SCERT conference hall, Lamphelpat.
