Despite blockade, no oxygen dearth in hospitals

Even though the State is reeling under acute shortage of essential commodities owing to the ongoing indefinite economic blockade imposed by United Naga Council (UNC), there is no dearth of much needed oxygen in the hospitals.
Addressing a press meet at the office of Manipur Oxygen Plant Private Limited at Moirangkhom here today, Managing Director of the private limited company Khagemba Sanabam dismissed the claim made in social and National media that the State is facing acute shortage of oxygen following the economic blockade.
He claimed that there is abundant stock of oxygen in the State and that there have been no instances when oxygen was sold to customers at a higher price.
Manipur Oxygen Plant Private Limited has been supplying oxygen to the hospitals of the State except Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat.
The private limited company has been producing oxygen above the quantity required by the State, he claimed.
Two agencies namely ABGS, Lamphelpat and Haobijam Agency, Uripok have been supplying B Type oxygen cylinder each having storage capacity of 7 cubic meter to the hospitals at Rs 700 including delivery charge per cylinder, he maintained.
Informing that the number of filled oxygen cylinder required in the State in a month is 3000-3500, Khagemba disclosed that the plant produces 650 cylinders a day.
He added that one may register complaint through contact number 8794491332 if one comes across oxygen being sold at a higher price.
