Imphal, December 01 2015:
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD & PR) Minister Francis Ngajokpa on Tuesday pointed out that litigations have been responsible for the delay in implementing projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) taken up by Manipur Rural Roads Development Agency (MSRRDA), Government of Manipur.
The minister was speaking to media persons in T03 (Talui junction) towards Lamlang while inspecting PMGSY projects taken up in the Ukhrul District.
Francis Ngajokpa said that most of the projects have been delayed as there were litigations and cases pending over the projects.
He said these cases were filed by vested interests and the situation has also affected in maintaining the set quality and standard meant for these projects.
The Minister also claimed that there have cases of individuals issuing threats to engineers and workers who were involved in the project works.
Moreover, litigations were also filed by villagers in the project areas making the situation even more pathetic, said Francis Ngajokpa.
He appealed the Village Development Authorities and villagers to extend cooperation to the works taken up by MSRRDA.
He also stressed on the importance of maintaining the quality of work and said the villagers could play a positive role in the process.
Francis Ngajokpa also urged the Village Development Authority to take the responsibility of thwarting any untoward incident in the project areas so that the engineers or workers are free to pursue their assigned duties.
The minister also expressed dismay with the delay in launching the construction of 15 km long Talui to Ngainga village road in Ukhrul District.
He said that the project amount has already been sanctioned in the past two years.
