Five day capacity building programme on Juvenile Justice Act 2015 kicks off

A five day capacity building programme on JJ Act 2015 of new social worker members of JJBs & staff of special homes commenced today at the Special Home for Boys, Sagolmang Khewa Company.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Social Welfare Secretary, Ningthoujam Geoffrey stressed on the importance of the role of stakeholders for effective implementation of Juvenile Justice Act.
He also spoke about the challenges when it comes to implement the Act owing to traditional customs.
Further he maintained that one should be careful in handling a juvenile when he/she has committed a serious crime and it is highly important to analyse the root cause which led to the crime and to take up reformative measures accordingly.
Speaking on the occasion, Ngangom Uttam Singh emphasized on the importance of treating the children with love and care to mend their bad habits and guide them towards the right path.
He also appealed to the gathering to avail the benefits of the capacity building programme and knowledge imparted by the resource persons to understand the Act better.
Principal Magistrate, JJB Imphal East, Kimneingah Kipgen also attended the programme.
