KRA pulls up three highway extortionists

KNO/KRA pulled up three youths engaged in extortion along National Highway-2 at around 3:27 am today from Taphou Phyamai village area.
The apprehended youths have been identified as J.Paodii Paul (26), s/o of N.Jacob, Khopule (26), s/o Khole and S.Diipulou (21), s/o Sounii.
All three of them are residents of Taphou Phyamai village situated near Taphou Kuki village along National Highway 2 .
The trio was extorting money from night super passenger buses and wingers plying along the highway using an Air Pistol and a knife.
They were apprehended along with the weapons they used for their anti-social activities and Rs.2,090 in cash which they have extorted from the vehicles.
On learning about the incident, Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills under the new leadership of Seimang Khongsai, President and N.Sehjalien Gangte, General Secretary appealed to KNO/KRA to handover the trio to them on humanitarian ground.
Consequently, after giving necessary warning to them, KNO/KRA handed over the trio along with the seized items to Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills.
Later, Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills called upon the Naga Peoples' Organization at Taphou Kuki village and after due acknowledgement from both bodies, the arrested trio was handed over to NPO.
During the handing over, Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills was represented by its President and Gen.

Meanwhile, Taphou Kuki VA has condemned the activities of the arrested trio and stated that such anti-social elements have tarnished the image and dignity of the village and the innocent villagers, who were always blamed for such unwanted activities.
"Even the law enforcement authority without establishing the real culprits always pointed their fingers towards the village and its innocent denizens which unnecessarily create uneasiness among the public", asserted Taphou Kuki VA while adding that it will be wise on the part of the concern law enforcement authority as well as the general public not to get the wrong impression about the village and its innocent denizens.
