Imphal, April 30 2010:
The State Government has decided to take up stringent actions against Government employees, contractors and suppliers found siphoning off funds from Government departments for delivery to militant organisations.
The Chief Secretary issued an order in this regard on April 15 .
The Chief Secretary issued the order after taking serious note of the repeated reports about links between certain Government officials, contractors and suppliers and underground organisations which have been instrumental in deducting development funds for diversion to militant organisations.
The order categorically mentioned that deduction of salaries of Government employees and from bills of contractors/suppliers is anti-national besides being detrimental to the security and development of the State.
The State Government has resolved to initiate stringent actions against officials found indulging in such illegal activities.
If such cases come to the notice of the Government without being informed by the department concerned, the matter will be viewed with all seriousness, it warned.
Government employees, contractors and suppliers found involved in such activities will be punished according to law, it added.
