STATE HEALTH and family welfare minister, Ph Parijat today said that government is planning to set up nursing institutes in every district headquarters of the state under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) observing that nurses don't want to go to the far off hill areas citing their difficulties to going there.
The minister was speaking as chief guest at the lamp lighting and capping ceremony of the third batch nursing students of the Irengbam Thamcha Devi Nursing and Health Care Research Institute held at GM Hall.
Lauding the role and service of the nurse, Parijat said, there is no other profession other than nurse which can be the most precocious service to mankind as they are serving all section of the people irrespective of cast, creed, colour and barring the religion one follow.
To serve the patients is not the only duty of being a nurse but to make happy with smiling face and take care of the patients is the essence of a nurse, he said urging the girls who choose the profession to be more efficient and sincere in the service.
Citing that even though private schools show better performance in the line of education, government run nursing institutes are far better than that of the private run one, he said adding that that is why people rushed to the government nursing institutes for admission.
He gave the reason for the same better infrastructures in the government run institutes.
Senior physician Dr A Dwijamani of JN Hospital who graced the function as guest of honour said that ideal doctors and nurses are to able to recover 90 percent of the illness of the patient by his or her service.
He also expressed concern over the trend of fixing the fault to the doctors and nurse when a patients die observing that every doctor and nurses try with their best effort to save life of people.
The function was also attended by founder member of the institute, Irengbam Ibotombi as president, deputy director (health) Dr I Imoba and president of the Trained Nurses Association of India, Manipur Chapter, L Ibohal, secretary S Ibemhal as guest of honours.
