Local clubs to launch agitation if road not repaired

Four local clubs (2 clubs of Kumbi Municipal Council Ward no 4 and 2 clubs of Ithai Wapokpi) has appealed the State Government to repair the stretch of road from Kumbi Bazaar to Khordok bridge, which is a portion of one of the important roads connecting Bishnupur and also Imphal East.
A joint decision taken by the four clubs during its meeting stated that it shall launch agitations if the road is not repaired by October 15.The four clubs namely Development Youth club and Sarangkhong Youth club of Kumbi Municipal Council Ward no 4 and Wapokpi Iramdam Lamjing Lamtak Lamtak Club and Wapokpi Athletic Rural Development Club of Ithai Wapokpi, Wangoo GP had taken the decision as the said stretch of road is in such deplorable condition, making it extremely inconvenient for commuters passing through this road.
The president of Development Youth Club, W Raghu expressed that the road is used frequently, specially by daily wagers, farmers and labourers of the GP and surrounding areas.
Furthermore, travelling on this road during emergencies is extremely difficult and a cause of concern for the locals.
It also mentioned that the road poses a huge threat to students, staff and others once school reopens, as vehicles transporting them to and fro will be passing through this road.
In view of the reasons stated above, the clubs have appealed the concerned Department to do the needful, before there are any mishaps/unfortunate incidents owing to the condition of the road.
They also issued a deadline for repairing the road before October 15, failure which it shall launch stringent agitations, they maintained.
