Senapati, May 26 2021:
In what could be termed as community transmission of Covid-19 in Koide villages under Purul block of Senapati district, 126 positive cases were detected from Upper Koide (Mathak) and Lower Koide (Makha) villages on Wednesday.
A random testing was conducted by the district health society on May 21 during which samples from 254 locals were collected, following four members of a family testing Covid-19 positive.
According to reliable sources, the villagers were reported to have had a huge gathering in violation of the SOPs laid down by the health department few days ago.
Although no critical cases have been reported till the time of filing this report, sources from the medical department mentioned that many have mild Covid-19 related symptoms at the time of sample collection.
Subsequent to detection of unprecedented number of infected persons, Senapati district magistrate Mahesh Chaudhari has imposed prohibitory order 'Curfew' in the entire Koide area covering Koide Mathak, Koide Makha, Koide Biisho and Koide Zho with immediate effect till June 5 and prohibited any form of public movement.
Emergency services are exempted from the curfew.
Earlier, the District Magistrate had ordered Koide Mathak and Koide Makha as containment zone on May 21 following detection of four positive cases from the village on that day.
It was found that Covid Appropriate Behaviour had not been followed properly in the past few days.
The district administration had reportedly arranged an ambulance with dedicated staff of PHC, Oinam Hill, exclusively for the Koide villagers, oxygen concentrators and two oxygen cylinders including home isolation kits.
The Covid-19 Management Committee of 47-Karong A/C handed over Sodium hypochlorite liquid for sanitization with pump, 10 PPEs, masks and essential medicines with vitamins for patients to the village volunteers.
The management committee also instructed the village volunteers not to let anyone move out of their house and the need to isolate oneself for the next ten days.
