Imphal, February 01 2021:
Hatta Muslim Girls Hostel should be reopened by the end of this month.
Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) said this in a statement issued today and added that the hostel was closed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year but as the COVID situation has been improving in the state, the Government had directed reopening of schools and colleges with due observation of COVID appropriate SOPs From January 27 .
Hostellers had reached out to the officials of Waaf Board to reopen the hostel but was told that the reopening can only be authorised by the CEO who is yet to take charge and as the hostel is being repaired following the initiative of former CEO Abdul Hakim (MCS), reopening of the hostel is not possible at present, added the statement.
MMWO urged the Government to reopen the hostel in the interest of Muslim students from far off places who are currently facing problem as they have to ply the distance everyday to attend classes in Imphal using public transport which also has been limited by the pandemic.
