Imphal, July 23 2019:
Students and teachers of Bhairodan Maxwell Hindi Primary School staged a sit in protest denouncing the amalgamation ofthe said primary school with Bhairodan Maxwell Hindi High School, at its school campus in Thangal Bazar today.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest, School Management Committee member Ch Chandramani decried the amalgamation of Bhairodan Maxwell Hindi Primary School with Bhairodan Maxwell Hindi High School (which are running under different administration in a same campus) following the recent declaration of the Education Minister to amalgamate some schools of the State.
Maintaining that the campus is not big enough to develop into a high school, he said that it is necessary to have a playground, assembly hall, computers, separate toilets, teachers common room, separate room for Headmaster etc.
As such, the primary school should remain separately as it is without any amalgamation, he said and added that the location is not reasonable to develop a high school in the present location.
He urged the State Government to combine the high school with other high schools at an appropriate location but to keep Bhairodan Maxwell Hindi Primary School intact without any change.
He further urged the authority concerned not to hinder the activities carried out by the primary school.
