Injured woman succumbs : Toll in Koirengei inferno goes up to 2

Imphal, October 22 2014:
A 45 year old woman who was critically injured with an 80 percent burn all over her body in a major fire that broke out last night at Koirengei Crossing succumbed to her injury Tuesday midnight.
Longpoklakpam (O) Sobita Devi (45) w/o L Dhiren Singh of Koirengei Bazar Mamang Leikai was rushed to CMC hospital, Koirengei after she received burn injuries all over her body.
As her condition worsened, she was referred to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) where she succumbed to her injuries around midnight.
A minor boy Thokchom Wilson alias Loyumba s/o Th Shyamkishor was charred to death by the inferno last night.
The dead bodies were handed over to their respective families today after conducting post mortem examinations at JNIMS morgue.
Th Ibempishak, mother of the deceased boy is also undergoing treatment at Shija hospital.
She is said to be in a critical condition.

The fire broke out last night around 8.30 when a Hyundai Getz car coming from Imphal side crashed a shop which deals with fuel at Koirengei Crossing.
The car burst into flame and the fire spread, engulfing the shop which soon spread to the contiguous shops and houses.
At least nine shops and houses were gutted by the inferno.
The ravaging fire was doused around 10.30 pm yesterday after locals along with fire tenders and personnel of BSF and Assam Rifles swung into action.
