Imphal, October 21 2013:
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today said that his Government is very serious about the boundary issue arising out of the ongoing Indo-Myanmar border fencing at Moreh.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of the swearing in ceremony of Justice Laxmi Kanta Mohapatra at Raj Bhawan here today, Chief Minister O Ibobi asserted that it is the reason why an all political party team led by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam would be visiting Moreh tomorrow to make an assessment of the current status of the border fencing.
"If the situation demands, an all-party team would also be send to New Delhi to impress upon both the Prime Minister and Home Minister for taking up appropriate steps to protect the land on Manipur side of the international boundary", he assured.
On the 'visa on arrival' required for free movement between the people of Manipur and Myanmar's Mandalay, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that he has already urged the concerned authorities in New Delhi to set up two visa offices in the state-one at Imphal Tulihal Airport and another at commercial hub Moreh.
"I'm expecting these visa offices soon," he said.
He also assured setting up of a passport office at Imphal to redress the problems faced by the public in going to Guwahati for making their passports.
