The 48 hours shutdown being called by the Panchayati Raj Institute (PRI) has crippled normal life in the valley of Manipur.
Owing to the shutdown, the number of passenger vehicles plying at Khwairamband Bazar was far lesser than any other normal days.
People supporting the cause of Panchayat functionaries also blocked roads at Kakwa, Porompat and Singjamei Wangma, causing great disturbance to the movement of civilians as well as passenger service providers.
The bandh also affected business activities at Khwairamband Keithel due to the restriction on movements.
An altercation between the State police and the bandh supporters was also reported from some places including Kakwa.
The bandh which began from the midnight of Tuesday is demanding the release of MGNREGA funds, wages for job card holders etc.
