New block of CCpur Hospital inaugurated

A newly constructed Block of District Hospital, Churachandpur, which included Observation Room (Male & Female), ICU, Treatment Room and Private Room, was inaugurated today at Hill Town, Churachandpur with Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh as chief guest.
The new block building of the hospital has been constructed with funding from the NEC.
PhungzathangTonsing, Minister (Health & Family Welfare, CADA & GAD); Govindas Konthoujam, Minister (Commerce & Industries); TN Haokip, MLA (Saikot); Chaltonlien Amo, MLA (Tipaimukh); T Manga Vaiphei, MLA (Henglep); Langkhanpao Guite, Chairman (ADC Churachandpur); MDC Members, Dr.Suhel Akhtar, Principal Secretary (Health & Family Welfare); Dr.A Bijoy Singh, Director (Health Services), PK Jha, IAS, DC (Churachandpur), District Officials and other eminent persons were also present during the inaugural function.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh stated, "Since 2002-2007 there have been financial difficulties and no progressive development have taken during this period except for some Priority Sector like maintenance of Law & Order, Health Services and Education.
But during the second term, i.e.from 2007, 11 & 12 development projects have been taken place" .
The Chief Minister appealed for peace, fight together for social crimes and added "Communal is the most dangerous and more dangerous than an atom bomb" .
The Chief Minister also promised a Three-Phase dedicated 24 Hours power supply line from Khengjang Power Sub-Station especially for Churachandpur District Hospital.
As for the demand for setting up of Hills Medical College in the District, the CM assured, "As of now, the District Hospital is equipped with 120-130 bedded hospital and there are certain terms & conditions under the MCI Criteria.
With a minimum of more than 600-700 Out Patients everyday coming from neighboring Bishnupur, Thoubal, neighboring state Mizoram and even from Myanmar it is more than eligible to set up a Hills Medical College in the district.
The total cost of setting up a Hills Medical College would be Rs 200 Crores with funding of 180 Crores from the Central Government and State'matching share is Rs 20 Crores.
Total completion of the District Hospital Building is required with preparation of a Detail Project Report of the District Hospital having more than 220-230 bedded and a Cabinet Decision is needed for the setting up of Hills Medical College in the District", the Chief Minister said while assuring to install 5000 Prepaid Meters soon in the District and also to power ATM Booths in the district.
During the function, a joint memorandum for providing better health care services in Churachandpur district was submitted to the Chief Minister of Manipur by District Family Welfare Officer Dr.Vumchinpau Tonsing and Chief Medical Officer Dr Thangchinkhup Guite of Thoubal district.
The joint memorandum demanded the government to provide sufficient room for the office of CMO to accommodate present strength of manpower and the district secretariat of national mission.
Highlighting the deficiency of medical staffs in the district, the joint memorandum further pointed out a huge gap in service delivery in all PHCs.
At present, out of 72 sub-centres only 56 sub-centres have ANMs and Nurses and the remaining sub-centres are either with single nurse or no staff thereby affecting delivery of health care services including immunization.
Moreover, the existing building of the District Family Welfare Officer, Churachandpur is nearly collapsed, hence a new building is essential to be constructed at its own plot opposite to CCpur District Hospital gate, the memorandum added.
After the end of the inaugural function, Chief Minister O Ibobi went around to inspect the existing condition of the Old Building of the District Hospital, OPD, Children OPD, Ward Building, Female Ortho Ward, Operation Theatre, Blood Bank, Maternity Ward, Children Ward and also planted a tree sapling.
