Imphal, April 18 2019:
The Naga People's Coordination Committee (NPCC), which was formed by the Naga people in Manipur in connection with the Lok Sabha poll, has extended its gratitude to the Naga public, tribe hohos, different student, youth and women organisations for their unflinching moral and physical support and cooperation during the 36-hour "people's protest" in the form of poster campaigns and 2-hour "voluntary" closure of shops, business establishments and halting of vehicular movements on the streets/roads and highways "against the opening of Strong Rooms" where the EVMs of 58-Churachandpur, 59-Saikot and 60-Singhat Assembly Constituencies are stored.
"Officials involved in the act be penalised as per the law of the land and those EVMs be excluded from counting on May 23, 2019," the NPCC said.
It also extended its gratitude to the media fraternity, both print and electronic, for covering the "social action" in their respective channels and daily papers.
"This committee expects support and cooperation from every section of the society in the region in our endeavour to deliver justice to all, irrespective of political affiliation and community," the NPCC added.
"It may be noted that, the NPCC in collaboration with the Naga public and like-minded civil society organisations would continue our democratic and peaceful process against all those forces/elements which try to violate the democratic process including the 17th Lok Sabha election 2019", the NPCC added.
