Ambassadors, High Commissioners will attend Sangai Festival: CS

Manipur Chief Secretary O Nabakishore on Tuesday confirmed that this year's Sangai Festival scheduled to begin from November 21 will be attended by many Ambassadors and High Commissioners (HC) from abroad.
During an interaction with media persons at the Conference Hall of Secretariat, O Nabakishore said that Ambassadors of Norway, Indonesia, Japan and China will be present at the Sangai Festival apart from High Commissioners from other countries including Bangladesh.
A cultural troupe from Thailand will also take part in the festival.
Sangai Festival will be inaugurated on November 21 by Manipur Governor V Shanmuganathan as the Chief Guest.
Chief Minister O Ibobi will attend the function as Chief Guest at the closing ceremony.
DoNER Secretary Navinda Verma will visit Imphal on November 23 to attend the festival.
Internationally acclaimed choir, Shillong Chamber Choir will also perform at the festival.
All the Chief Secretaries of the Northeastern States will visit the festival on November 24 and discuss trade and commerce in the region.
Like previous years, there will be an International Polo tournament participated by teams foreign teams including USA, UK, Thailand and Australia.
Various traditional housing designs will be exhibited at Hapta Kangjeibung, where the main events of the festival will take place.
Paintings and sculptures by artists of Manipur, Second World War museum pieces and photos will also be exhibited during the festival.
There will be the Shumang Leela plays staged at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, said the Chief Secretary.
Tourism Secretary Nidhi Tripathi also informed that there will be around 286 stalls in the main venue of Sangai Festival including around 38 food stalls.
A ballad titled "Keibul Lamjao" will be staged during the Theatre Festival which will be held from November 22 to 28 .
Two buses have been kept ready for conducted tours inside the State and a cycle rally will also to be held to spread the message of the festival, said the secretary.
