Imphal to develop farmers friendly modern agri tools

In view of the poor mechanization in farming and agricultural sector in the North East region, particularly Manipur, the Tirth Agro Technology Private Limited, Rajkot is planning to develop modern agricultural equipments that will ease the farmers' problem by availing feasible and economical modern agricultural appliances.
The Tirth Agro Technology Private Limited which makes Shaktiman brand agricultural equipment is also most likely to tie up with NETC Agri Business, Imphal to vend and rent the farmers' friendly modern agricultural tools to the farmers in the State.
Speaking to few selective media personnel from the State who accompanied a team of farmers during a farm mechanization exposure tour at the company's premises at Rajkot from Imphal, Tirth Agro Technology Private Limited Managing Director Hasmukhbhai Gatorbhai Gohil asserted that the company considers the North-East region as an important place for agriculture and allied activities.
"The company considers availability of huge untapped potential for agriculture and poor mechanization in the North-East as a big challenge and a big opportunity for the company," he said commenting on the poor farm mechanization in the North-East region and necessity of increasing farm mechanization in the region to increase agri produces.
Farmers in the North East region and India as a whole are facing issues af low yield production and limited land for agriculture.
"Lands are limited.
However, agricultural produces have to be increased somehow to improve farmers income, and propel the growth of region/Nation," he said and pointed out that the "ultimate way or option" to curtail the problem is enriching farm mechanization to increase yielding capacity.
Taking into account this aspect, the company is providing a complete solution by making modern machines even in indigenization form/customized machines to make the machines feasible, affordable and economical to Indian farmers, he said.
The indigenization or customization of agricultural tools need to explore the different aspects of agriculture being practised in the different States and regions of India.
The company is considering making machines which will suit the farm requirements and compatible in North East States and Manipur.
Informing that there are certain limitations in the engineering part and designing of agricultural tools, such as size of the machines, the company is also' sorting out a feasible option for the farmers which will make the agro service providers procure required machines and rent the machines to the farmers.
After thorough deliberation about the problems of farmers in the State and demonstration of equipments developed by Tirth Agro Technology Private Limited to the farmers of the exposure tour team, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection), KVK Thoubal Dr M Thoithoi who was also accompanying the exposure tour team observed that the there is an urgent need of enhancing farm mechanization in the State if the agricultural produces have to be increased and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goal of doubling the farmers' income by 2022 has to be materialized in the State.
The exposure team visited several farms in Rajkot district where farm mechanization are being adopted creating awareness for the same (farm mechanization).
It may be noted that Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian flagged off the farm mechanization tour from his residential quarter at Lamphel on September 12.The exposure tour team returned Imphal yesterday evening after the four days trip to Rajkot, Gujarat.
